Picture this: a rainy Tuesday morning in the Costa Brava.
The clouds were hanging low, casting a warm grey light across the scenery, giving it an almost surreal feel. Following six hours of meandering through picturesque villages and scenic routes, we eventually reached Lleida, a charming little town nestled in the heart of Catalonia. Our mission? To immortalize the lovely love story of Lukas and Laura on their special wedding day through stunning wedding photography in Costa Brava.
The ceremony and reception was held at Mas d'en Bosch, a charmingly renovated 13th-century farmhouse offering stunning lakeside vistas, situated next to the Rialb Reservoir. Enhanced by the magnificent Pyrenees in the background, this captivating location exuded a sense of history and serenity, creating an ideal setting for Lukas and Laura's memorable celebration. The magic of wedding photography in Costa Brava truly came to life here, as the timeless architecture and natural beauty combined to form a perfect backdrop for their special day.
Laura had put so much thought into planning a stunning garden wedding, and as the rain kept pouring, she anxiously peeked out the window, worried that her plans might wash away. Just when it seemed like all hope was lost, the clouds parted around midday, allowing the sun to shine through and light up the space just in time for the celebration.
The reception turned into a lively evening filled with laughter, music, and pure joy. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement, illuminated by twinkling lights that created a warm glow over the festivities. Guests had flown in from Lithuania and England, bringing a wonderful mix of cultures to the celebration. Stories and laughter filled the air, and new friendships blossomed as everyone connected over the joy of the day. Soon enough, the dance floor was packed with happy faces, all there to celebrate Lukas and Laura's love, making for an unforgettable evening filled with cherished memories.
The vibrant energy of the reception reminded us of the joyous celebrations that Lithuanians are known for, wrapping us in a wave of nostalgia and warmth. It was such a delight to see our home culture come alive, with familiar traditions and lively customs adding to the charm of the evening. From spirited dances to heartfelt toasts, the essence of Lithuanian celebration filled the room, reminding us of the strong connections that tie us together, no matter where we find ourselves in the world.
Interview with the Bride
Hello! Who are you, and how did you meet?
Laura and Lukas. Lithuanian couple living in the United Kingdom, where we met via mutual friends at the party. We clicked straight away and a year later got engaged on the holiday in Portugal. Shortly after started wedding planning, both knew what we wanted for our big day, which was - a celebration in Spain, nothing over the top and with the closest people that we love the most.
Now about the wedding... Where did you decide to have it, and how long did planning take?
La baronia de Rialb, Lleida, Spain. Wedding ceremony in the backyard of a villa, wedding reception inside the villa. Wedding happened late spring. Wedding has been planned in 8-9months. Only 20 guests. Wedding vibe was DIY, classic and minimalistic.
And about the style of the wedding, how did you decide on it?
We always knew that we want our wedding style to be quite classic and bright but with a touch of us. Never listened to others opinions, always did what we wanted and what felt was right for us. That’s why we chose diy a lot of things, including florals. Colour scheme was - white, beige and of course a pop of green for the flowers. Except for the brides bouquet, wanted it to be unique so it was ordered and made from dried daisies.
What did you wear on the big day?
Brides wedding look was classic, a dress chosen from Noodz boutique, paired with a lace veil, pointed toe heels and pearl earrings and bracelet. Wedding day perfume - Xerjoff Erba Pura. Her feelings were mixed in the morning, as it was quite stressful, but it settled down straight away just before the ceremony and stayed emotional but very happy for the rest of the day. Grooms wedding look- Marc Darcy suit and a nike dunk shoes. Boutonnière ordered together with brides bouquet. He felt that this look really shows who he is as a person and he would never wear anything that he wouldn’t feel good in. Groom felt quite relaxed, no rush in the morning, but super emotional during the ceremony, after that felt relax and super happy again.
Where did you have the ceremony?
Ceremony happened at the villa we stayed in, just backyard. Didn’t really get to do it at the location we wanted at first but we were happy with the end result. Our celebrant was Lithuanian and we got married by Lithuanian tradition but we were happy that there were some Spanish details incorporated.
And the reception?
Reception was held inside the villa in the hall. Decorations were used simple, romantic and also reused flowers from the ceremony. For a first dance song we chose Golden hour by JVKE. But there was no choreography as it’s just not us, chose to dance how we feel at that moment. The whole reception was so fun because we had our entertainer and he made sure everyone was having fun. We decided not to have cake cutting, but I made a cake piñata with little shots inside for the guests to have so everyone could party all night. I felt happy about the decision as I always knew there will be little touches of us. The same as I didn’t do a bouquet tossing and gifted it to my mum.
What made the day unique, in your opinion?
The whole day was very unique, but probably the moment our guests got told that we have a cake piñata, their reactions were everything.
What was the most memorable moment?
The most memorable moment from the wedding was for sure a walking down the aisle and the whole ceremony. Will never forget that feeling.
Any advice for future brides?
Only advice we got is that you should always do whatever you want with your wedding, either its something unusual or something traditional, do not listen to other’s opinions. And don’t forget to have fun!!
